Bottom Rail On Top
Slowly across the sky…an illusion as
I crawl forward and you stand still.
Hallucinating six days…heat, cotton,
whip, blood…God this is real.
Sunday you are my friend…you race too fast.
I am free…a grandiose delusion.
A moment to read from the only book massa allows…reality.
Fifty-two lessons a year…God is a
good teacher.
I discover...my journey ends in
Heaven and massa goin’ to Hell.
Inspired by...In 1865, a freed slave serving in the Union Army saw his former master amidst a group of Confederate prisoners he was guarding and said, "Hello massa, bottom rail on top 'dis time."
A "conversation" between a slave and the sun.
Matthew 20:1-16
